European legends, the Fox is regarded as a clever trickster. In Asian cultures, Foxes appear in folklore as powerful spirits that can have as many as nine tails. Known as huli jing in China, kumiho in Korea, and kitsune in Japan, these spirits can be good or bad omens, but they are renowned for wisdom and magical abilities including shape-shifting, which increase as the spirits get older.
